A dredge pump is a horizontal centrifugal pump and is the heartbeat of a dredge. It is designed to handle abrasive granular materials and solids of limited size in suspension. Without the dredge pump, a cutter suction dredge would not be able to transport slurry.
The solves two problems. First, gravel pumps are very expensive, heavy, and high maintenance items. Second, a 2" pump can easily be used with a venturi to …
My plan was to put the pump on the dock so I can use the 20' of rigid intake hose I already have for the water supply from the canal. I was thinking I could just use 6 …
The Role of Dredge Pumps: Dredge pumps are the workhorses of dredging operations, responsible for suctioning and transporting vast amounts of material from the seabed or riverbed. These pumps come in various types, including centrifugal, submersible, and hydraulic pumps, each tailored to specific dredging requirements.
Thought I could use the trash pump that I jet pilings with to suck out the sand and sludge so we could at least launch the bass type boats. It worked great until it didn't work. We moved a bunch of sand and sludge until the outlet line packed with sand and the inlet with sticks.
I have tried about 20 different ways to dredge, using siphoning, then trash pumps, and different "heads" to the suction hose to try to be able to dredge for more than 3 minutes without clogs and I can report failure. ... I have come close to buying a floating gold dredge a few times, but just cannot bring myself to spend the money. If my ...
Using a submersible pump is an efficient DIY method for dredging ponds under 1 acre in size. Gas or electric-powered pumps fitted with suction hoses can vacuum sediment from the bottom much like a wet/dry shop vac. Feed the discharge hose to an area away from the pond to deposit the slurry of water and sediment.
I have no experience in this but i have been wanting to try it also. I talked to one of my bosses and he said to look into a diaphragm (not sure if spelt correctly) pump …
A trash pump can not and will not create the pressure a jet log (suction jet) utilizes to create a vacuume to lift material up the suction hose Not to be confused with a suction nozzle that most highbankers use that pushes material through the hose In most cases a trash pump can run a suction nozzle but not a jet. Jet requires a much higher ...
Trash pumps are the workhorses of the pumping world. When you need to move a liquid that contains debris or solids, whether it's pond water sludge, storm debris, mud or sand, a trash pump may be the way to go.
A gold dredge is a placer mining machine that extracts gold from sand, gravel, and dirt using water and mechanical methods. A highbanker is a power sluice …
I posted in another thread discussing muck removal options but thought I would give this a dedicated thread. One suggested DIY solution to remove organic muck from an old pond is to build something akin to a gold dredge with a trash pump and a venturi dredge nozzle. Does anyone have real...
Tim, I run a 2" clear water pump that I bought at harbor freight and it works great on both my highbanker and my 2 1/2 inch dredge with no problems, and in both clear and …
I would be no help in what equipment to use but my idea was to use a trash pump and place it 1-2' above the bottom and use a pressure cleaner to blast the bottom and stir it up and have the trash pump take a higher water to solid ratio. no idea how well it will work but i definitely have considered trying it.

There are really two types of pumps for prospectors. Semi trash pumps and high pressure pumps. Semi trash pumps will move large amounts of water with not too much PSI. Most 2″ and 3" semi trash pumps are rated about 35 – 42 psi. Rocks, sand and gravel, up to about 1/4″ – 1/2″ can pass through these based on the pump.
If you can use a bigger pump you can set your sluice pitch flatter which is better. best option is always a honda with a p-90 pump. good volume, bomb proof motor and quiet. you can run a sluice or up to a 2.5 inch dredge with it.

Don't use a trash pump and think you can pump the sand through the trash pump, saving the need for a jet. This is very bad design, and the heavy load of sand and gravel going …
A suction dredge needs to have a specific pump on it, made for pressure and volume, trash pumps just wont produce the pressure needed for sucking up gravels as …
Before you use your suction hose to vacuum up water and material, get your dredge's pump ready for a day of work. Dredge pumps are designed for aquatic use only, so running air through them can cause them to overheat. Lower your dredge pump's foot valve below the water's surface and give it a few back-and-forth thrusts to get it going.
Dredge pumps are centrifugal pumps that can suck semi-solid materials. Before using the pump, relocate the fish to a stock tank. While dredging our pond with a dredge pump, make sure you locate the inlet of the pump at various locations of your pond so that the sediments can be collected effectively.
Ive heard of trash pumps being used on dredges and dont see no use buying a high dollar motor for a dredge if this one can put out the water needed. If use a 3 inch intake might have enough for something. any advice is appreciated.

Why do I need 100' of 4" rigid hose? My plan was to put the pump on the dock so I can use the 20' of rigid intake hose I already have for the water supply from the canal. I was thinking I could just use 6-8' of 4" hose (does it need to be rigid?) to the reducer and then have enough 2" hose to use the nozzle around the dock and canal.
Dredge adapters are sold all over the place., so we do not sell them. Also, we strongly recommend you use a HIGH PRESSURE pump, not a semi trash pump.
