Never Forget Phulbari Massacre of 2006
50,000 people marched in Phulbari, Bangladesh on August 26, 2006, to protest against the plan to start an open-pit coal mine in some of the most fertile land of Bangladesh. Paramilitary forces opened fire killing three protestors and injured over 200 people. Every year, August 26 is observed as the "Phulbari Day".
